Children's Birthdays

In a programme lasting several hours, children can have fun with rides on the Mining Foreman's bicycle or with the Hunt (mine railway wagon).

In a programme lasting several hours, children can have fun with rides on the Mining Foreman's bicycle or with the Hunt (mine railway wagon). "Stone hammering" with hammer and pick (chisel) is especially entertaining for all children and entering the mine vault is something special.

Equipped like real miners with helmets and mining lamps, they will visit the underground section of the Mining Museum in Bad Grund.

They will listen attentively to Regina Keinert's interesting tales by the light of an old mining lamp in the "Steigerbucht" as she tells stories from the miner's legends and those of the oldest of the seven Upper Harz mining towns, Bad Grund "the little town with a heart".

During the tours, the children repeatedly marvel at the equipment and machines on display, which can be explained in as much detail as they desire. The pleasure is especially great when each child is presented with the "Railway Wagon Pusher Diploma" as a memento of the special birthday celebration.

By special request the "Water Tunnel Diploma" can also be acquired. This requires a visit to the part of the underground Eichelberger Wasserlauf water transport tunnel. For this adventure the children need to bring their own rubber boots with them. As for the tour of the exhibits and the visit to the underground part of the Knesebeck Shaft Mining Museum, the children will be equipped with safety helmets and electric mining lamps.

After the "work" is done, the birthday is celebrated happily in the Shaft Hall.
