Work assignments

Restoration of the function building

In the spring of 2014, expertise and practical experience were once again required. Rolf Benneckendorf and Georg Heberle from the "Harzklub" branch in Bad Grund voluntarily restored the partially badly damaged wooden cladding on the western gable front of the function building (only the really defective boards and battens were removed and replaced with a perfect fit).

The complete roof of the barbecue hut also had to be replaced. Here, new tongue and groove boards were used. The ridge of the roof construction was raised by 15 cm so that water can flow off more easily. The wooden roof was not only completely replaced; new roofing felt also had to be nailed on.

For this work assignment, which took up a lot of time, the firm Klaus Heberle provided the necessary boards and battens at a low cost.

The Committee thanks the participants for their excellent work.

Not only the wooden roof was expertly replaced

In the autumn of 2010 Rolf Benneckendorf and Georg Heberle - both are members of the Support Association - from the "Harzklub" branch in Bad Grund voluntarily restored the badly damaged wooden roof and the complete substructure of the replica "German Mine Entrance Doorframe" in the outdoor area of the Knesebeck Shaft Mining Museum.

This project was heavily supported by the company Klaus Heberle, which donated the wood and the necessary boards and trimmed to them to the right length in their workshop. Not only the wooden roof was expertly replaced but new roofing felt was also accurately nailed on. The roof was then sealed with bitumen.

The Committee of the Mining Museum Support Association thanks the participants for carrying out this work and cost-intensive project.
